August 1 City Council Minutes

Excerpts from the minutes:
  • About 1/3 of work on the lagoon project is completed and the contractor intends to be done in less than 60 days.  
  •  City Park: The OBC will be applying for a REAP Grant to extend the sidewalk from the north gazebo over to 3rd Street, repair the pillars at the park, add an additional concrete pad and  table and extend the shelter house roof by 10 feet for additional coverage over the concrete area.
  • Sewer Rate Increase:  The third and final reading was had on the proposed sewer rate increase as follows: the minimum rate for the first 1000 gallons (based on water usage) will raise from $10.00 to $14.00.  For each additional 1000 gallons of usage the rate will increase from $2.50 to $4.60. It was moved by Flink and seconded by Bengford to adopt Ordinance #01.11 as stated above. Four ayes. No Nays. Absent: Hemphill
  •   Due to the holiday, the regular September meeting will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
  •  The Odebolt Memorial Walk has purchased the former Rector House on behalf of the City of Odebolt. The house will be demolished. Moved by Scott and seconded by Flink that the area will remain a Greenspace.  Four ayes.
  • Moved by Flink and seconded by Hoefling to charge a $50.00 up-front fee for “information searches” which involve time taken away from the Clerk’s daily routine.  Additional time will be charged at the Clerk’s hourly rate of pay.  Res. # 11.27. Four ayes.
  •  The Mayor brought on for discussion the idea of moving the Petersen Pioneer Home to the downtown area of 2nd Street to the area of Richland #1 will occupy.  The Questors have been reviewing the idea and feel it will be more accessible to visitors at this location.  If the Council is in accord, the search will begin to search out the feasibility and cost of moving the building.  There will be no cost to the City.  The Council was in agreement to the idea.
  •  The new fire truck has arrived.  Street repairs will begin soon.
