As recent graduates of OABCIG we would like to share our reflections of the past two years of combining our school districts…We came together as juniors, curious as to how our classes, friends, activities and athletics would change. We were both excited and nervous as the school year approached. We soon realized that we not only grew in class size, but also in the variety of classes we could take, the number of activities and clubs we could join and in the quality of teachers we had. We had more opportunities to pursue the career paths we were interested in and could be better prepared for in the next phase of our lives. More advanced courses became available which allowed us to be competitive with students from larger school districts. Our clubs and athletic teams found new energy and have excelled. The students and community came together and ignited a great sense of pride.
One of the best rewards was that we gained friendships that will last a lifetime. Our students have truly broadened their horizons and would not look back. The community should also not look back, but should see this consolidation of school districts as a great opportunity. In conclusion, we graduated as ONE class of 79 students, from all 4 communities. We are proud to be a part of the Class of 2011 from OABCIG.
