Odebolt library offers WILBOR workshopWant to learn how to use your computer, iPad (Kindle, Nook or other tablet) or phone to download free books/audiobooks from the library?

The Odebolt Public Library is offering a free workshop Wednesday, June 25, at 5:30 p. m.  Bonnie McKewon from the State Library of Iowa will give a presentation, explaining the WILBOR website and how to use it. The public is welcome to attend.

At 7 p. m., following the presentation, Kelly Fischbach of the Carroll Public Library and Julie Childers of the Odebolt Public Library will direct a “Gadget Zoo” for those interested in learning how to use their devices.

Computers will be available; however, you should bring your laptop, tablet, e-reader or phone if you want to learn how to access WILBOR on your own device. Be sure to bring along any passwords needed in order for you to access your device.

Moonlight Garden Party set
The Prairie Pedlar will host its annual Moonlight Garden Party on Sunday, June 22.

This year’s program will feature the Summerset Winery of Indianola. The Prairie Pedlar’s garden and gift shop open at 7:30 p. m. Guests are invited to sample wines and hors d’oeuvres while browsing through the gardens, greenhouses and gift barns. Super savings of entire product line and greenhouse plants are available this night only.

The program begins at twilight, approximately 9 p. m. The winery representatives will share about the winery’s grape venture, explaining and promoting their business while detailing the wines they produce. Prairie Pedlar hosts, Jack and Jane Hogue, will conclude the evening’s program with door prizes.

Admission is $10 per person. Reservations are required, and the group size is limited. Tickets may be purchased by mailing reservations to Prairie Pedlar, 1677 270th St., Odebolt, Iowa 51458, or by calling 712-668-4840.

The Prairie Pedlar is located at 1609 270th St., Odebolt, about six and a half miles north of Odebolt, just off county road M-43.


Redeemed Trio in concert
The Redeemed Trio from Versailles, Mo., will share their ministry of music at a gospel concert Friday, June 13, 7 p. m., at the Odebolt United Methodist Church.

There is no admission charge; an offering will be accepted to help offset travel costs.

There will be a meet and greet after the concert.


Odebolt PEO scholarships
Each year, Chapter DS, PEO of Odebolt gives scholarships to one O-A/BC-IG and one East Sac County student.

Recipients of the P. E. O. Achievement Award were O-A/ BC-IG’s Shania Wunschel and East Sac County’s Katie Riedell. Each girl was presented $500 during their respective Awards Day ceremonies.

Shania is the daughter of Lyle and Kim Wunschel of Arthur and will attend Buena Vista University, majoring in psychology.

Katie is the daughter of Joe and Stephanie Riedell of Lake View and will attend Creighton University in the pre-med program.

The girls and their mothers will be honored guests at the P. E. O. meeting at St. Martin Catholic Fellowship Hall on June 12.
