School Back Pack Ministry Resumes
An important and vital ministry that began last school year will again be a ministry headed by Faith Lutheran Church of Odebolt. An article in Faith Lutheran's newsletter said, "We were very blessed last year by so many of our members who brought food items for the back packs, and from others in the community who also contributed financially and with food donations. It has its base out of our congregation and then at the end of each week the bags are taken to the school office where the kids pick them up on Friday."
Last year the Back Pack Ministry served, at the greatest number, 30 children. The Ministry is asking people to help again in providing food items that would be greatly appreciated.
Items used every week are: Instant oatmeal, juice (100%) drink or juice and vegetable mix, fruit (individual containers), pudding, cheese and crackers or peanut butter and crackers, granola bars, fruit bars, and individual cereal. This gives each child some protein, fiber, fruit, dairy. Junk food is avoided.
Donate School Supplies
It is school time again and people are invited to pick up extra school supplies for those who are struggling to get all the supplies. They will be distributed through our local outreach agencies in Sac, Ida and Crawford Counties, or through the schools. There will be containers in each of the churches to collect the items.
Once again the congregations of Faith and Bethel Lutheran Churches are pleased to announce that Dakota Road will be in concert on August 19, 2012.
