Truck rides: The Odebolt Fire Department gave truck rides to Odebolt-Arthur Elementary students Thursday as part of its National Fire Prevention week activities. Students also heard about fire safety from fireman Jace Horsley. Fire chief Bill Tysor was also on hand to give truck rides.
Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire that began on Oct. 8, 1871, and continued into Oct. 9. The fire killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres.

Pink Out: The O-A/BC-IG volleyball team donated $750 to Horn Memorial Hospital Monday, Oct. 10. The girls raised the money by selling pink t-shirts to raise awareness of breast cancer. The money will go toward the purchase of digital mammography equipment for the hospital. On hand for the donation were Marc Augsburger, Horn Memorial administrator; Crystal Endrulat, Horn Memorial radiology technician; and Cassidy Wilcke, representing the volleyball team.
