NEWS BLOG FOR ODEBOLT.NET
We have switched to a "news blog" in order that both Bonnie and I can post news updates. Bonnie lives in Ankeny, and I live south of Cedar Rapids. Previously she would email me her news and I posted both her news and my news The blog is working out great so far.I also configured the front page of odebolt.net with a Google Reader interface that shows not only our posts, but posts from the Odebolt Betterment Committee blog, the Odebolt-Arthur Education Association blog, and blog posts by the school superintendent, Dani Trimble.
All you have to do is go to odebolt.net and you will see recent blog posts on the right-hand side. There is also a link directly under the Odebolt News Blog image, which you can click in case the interface "list" is temporarily not functioning, or your browser is not reading the script.
Readers of the blog have the ability to post comments and I would encourage you to do so. For instance: after the recent tornadoes went through the area, people could have posted pictures, stories and the like for all to share. For those that missed the photos that were posted, click the below

NEW CALENDAR ON ODEBOLT.NET
I have changed the City of Odebolt Calendar to a Google Calendar system, which allows both Bonnie and me to post events. If you click on an event, a box should come up showing event details.
There are tabs on the right at the top of the calendar - "week", "month" and "agenda". The agenda tab is a vertical event listing and displays the full names of calendar events rather than the cut-off events names on other displays.
Please get used to using the calendar to check for upcoming events as I will not be posting them on the "Bulletin Board" any more, for the most part. A reminder ... ANYONE with an Odebolt-area event can email me and I will post it on the calendar for you. It is your city calendar and I encourage you to make use of it. www.odebolt.net/calendar.html
ODEBOLT.NET BUSINESS SPONSORSHIPS DISCONTINUED
The final change is that the renewal date for Business Sponsors was last September. I just did not have time to notify them all to renew and decided to discontinue the sponsorships.
Businesses that have been page sponsors will continue to appear as page sponsors. I thank them for their many years of support. It was their support that got odebolt.net going and helped with software and other costs through the years. They have been very faithful in continuing support and I am grateful. View these sponsors at www.odebolt.net/sponsors.htm
If any Odebolt-area business wishes to be listed on the Business Directory, all they need to do is email me. If there are special events or news that businesses want posted they will also need to email me. If any business STILL wishes to give monetary support toward the workings of odebolt.net, they are more than welcome to contact me! (Big smile!)
ODEBOLT HISTORY PAGES
Since I started working part-time 3 years ago, I have not had nearly the time I would like to update the history of Odebolt. In fact, I have not updated it at all this year so far. When I retire from my job I hope to have more time get back to history. For now you can see any updates at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~iaohms/additions.html
AND FINALLY ....
As I have told Mayor Rex, there will come a time when I will need to retire from odebolt.net (and Bonnie as well). If there are any odebolt-connected web developers out there that have a hankering to promote Odebolt on the Internet, please step forward. It usually takes about 3 to 4 hours a week, but sometimes many more hours. Although we do receive a small quarterly check from the City, we mostly do it as a service to our hometown. Contact me if you are interested in committing the time!
Odebolt.net newsletters are only sent out 2 or 3 times a year and contain timely information of interest.
If you wish to subscribe to the newsletter to receive it in your email, send a message to the below address with "Subscribe" in the subject line. Email addresses are blind-carbon-copied (BCCd) and are not visible to anyone else.
Also email me if you wish to be removed from the email list.
