OA-BCIG Graduation this Sunday

Commencement exercises for 70 Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove seniors will be at 2 p. m. in the high school gymnasium on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

The program will begin with prelude music and the processional “Pomp and Circumstance” performed by the O-A/BC-IG High School band, under the direction of Eric Wells.

Superintendent Dr. Nick Ouellette will welcome the audience.  Senior choir members will sing “Hold On to Your Dream,” directed by Linda Johnson.

O-A/BC-IG High School Principal Patrick Miller will present the seniors with their scholastic recognition awards and then recognize valedictorian Cailin Carstensen and salutatorian Hannah Gustafson.

BC-IG School Board President Brian Riessen and Odebolt-Arthur Board President Traci Bengford will distribute the diplomas.  Miller will then present the graduates to the audience, followed by the recessional.

After commencement, the graduates will have a receiving line outside, weather permitting.

The seniors have chosen black, purple, silver and white for their class colors. Purple and white Lisianthus is the class flower.  The class motto is “We cannot discover new oceans unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”  The class song is “We Weren’t Crazy” by Josh Gracin.

She said, “Teaching at Odebolt-Arthur Elementary has been delightful. The people that I worked with for many years became my family. We worked cooperatively at school, we helped each other through tough times, we gave child-rearing advice and we celebrated weddings and cried at funerals. The friendships that I made will last forever.”
