ODEBOLT SNOW ORDINANCES
69.10 SNOW REMOVAL: No person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on a public street, alley or city-owned off-street parking area of any day during the periods of November 1 to April 1 when weather conditions consist of snow, sleet, ice and/or freezing rain.
185.03 REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE AND ACCUMULATIONS: It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from the entire width of all of said sidewalks. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within twenty-four hours, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

LifeServe needs an Odebolt Volunteer
LifeServe Blood Center is looking for a community member that is interested in volunteering for a great cause. The needs is for a Volunteer Community Coordinator for the blood drives happening in Odebolt. Responsibilities include meeting with Territory Representative 4 weeks before the drive, hanging posters 10 days before and receiving post-drive results 2 days after the drive. Also on Monday, O-A Elementary students will host a lunch for veterans at the school at noon.
Following the lunch, Odebolt Legion members will present a program on flag and weapon etiquette to Odebolt-Arthur Elementary and O-A/BC-IG Middle School students.
On Tuesday, elementary students will help Legion members fold flags from the Veterans’ Memorial at the cemetery.

Alumni Achievement Award to Charise Flynn
Charise Carstensen Flynn who grew up in Odebolt and is a 2004 graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, has received an Alumni Achievement Award from the college. The award is given to an alumnus who graduated within the past 20 years and who has distinguished himself or herself through a career or service to the community. Black Hawk Lake Starts Fish Kill
Black Hawk Lake is on the cusp of the largest lake renovation in Iowa in more than a quarter century. The 922-acre natual lake, suffering from poor water quality, a large carp population and a cyclical fishery in decline, will have its fish population eliminated on November 8, 2012.
The drought of 2012 reduced the lake volume by nearly 45 percent and made the renovation possible.

Pheasant Hunter Success on Opening Weekend
Hunter success in Iowa’s 2012 pheasant season opener followed what the roadside survey predicted. Better bird numbers were in northwest Iowa and few birds were seen in southern Iowa, but by and large, conservation officers found hunters were encouraged, but not satisfied, with their opening weekend hunt.
