Faith Lutheran Church, 708 Locust St., Odebolt, is holding a new event for the community for Halloween 2012: "Trunk or Treat." It will be held the same evening as Odebolt's Trick or Treat night, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is for anyone residing in or around Odebolt that would like to hand out treats all in one place.
If you wish to hand out treats from your vehicle, park in the back parking lot off Willow Street. If you wish, you may decorate your vehicle in whatever theme you like. Hand out whatever treats you would like to provide for the children.
This is open to the community for anyone who would like to participate in a safe environment, whether you are handing out treats or collecting the treats in your bags.
If you don't bring a vehicle, you can still join the others to hand out your treats, or you may donate treats to be handed out. Money donations to purchase treats are welcome.
Drivers bringing Trick-or-Treaters to the event should park their vehicles either in the parking lot in front of the church on Locust Street or along Willow Street adjacent to the parking lot in back. Do not park in the back lot unless you are setting up to hand out treats.
You may call Faith Lutheran Church at 712-668-4515 for more details about this event.

Trip to the Fire Station
On October 11, Odebolt Elementary School students toured the fire station and learned some fire safety tips. They also traveled through the smoke house and learned how to get through a house on fire. They rode back to school in the fire truck.
Church Steeple Restored
The Gilbert and Barbara Renze Foundation recently distributed major gifts from the trust to benefit charitable organizations and causes. St. Martin Catholic Church in Odebolt received funds to restore and repair the church steeple.
