Laurel Bengford of OABCIG High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of th 2012 All-State Chorus. Laurel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bengford of Arthur, Iowa and is a vocal student of Mrs. Linda Johnson.
The 2012 Festival will celebrate the 66th anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for NW Iowa were held Saturday, October 2012 in Storm Lake. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership. Participants will rehearse in Ames and will present the Festival concert to the public on Saturday, November 17, 7:30 p.m. in Hilton coliseum. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
