One of the primary concerns is the winter weather's ability to knock out heat, power and communications services to your home or office, sometimes for days at a time. Heavy snowfall and extreme cold can immobilize an entire region.
With the official arrival of winter, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) asks individuals, families and organizations to prepare themselves for the severe cold and storms that have already begun to affect the region.
“By preparing, individuals, families and businesses increase their chances of not only surviving, but quickly recovering from an emergency,” said Beth Freeman, Regional Administrator for FEMA Region VII. “Winterizing your home, car and/or business today and staying informed, could make all the difference tomorrow.”
