Kiron pancake fire fund-raiser
The Kiron Fire Department is holding a pancake fund-raiser Sunday, April 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kiron fire station. Pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage will be served for a free will offering.

O-A/BC-IG presents ‘Villain School’
Everyone loves a good villian and, in “Villian School,” the entire cast gets the fun of playing the bad guy…or girl. Under the direction of Whitney Simonsen-Frank and assistant director Kiley Simonsen, O-A/BC-IG High School presents “The Villain School,” on Saturday, April 16, at the O-A/BC-IG high school cafeteria at 7 p.m.

Ida, Sac counties decline in population

Ida and Sac counties saw a decline in their populations, according to information from the U.S. Census Bureau released March 24. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the population of states, counties and the country as a whole each year between the decennial censuses.

The most recent estimates are as of July 1, 2015. Ida County’s population estimate as of July 1, 2015, was 7,042, which is down 61 people, or 0.9 percent from the last official census count of 7,089, conducted in 2010. Ida County’s population was 7,837 in the 2000 census.

Sac County’s population estimate on July 1, 2015, was 10,035, which is down 329 people, or 3.2 percent from the 2010 census count of 10,350. Sac County’s population in the 2000 census was 11,529.


Flint Hills supports Fire Departments
Odebolt Fire Department received $1,000 from Flint Hills Resources to purchase new confined space equipment, including new protective harnesses to keep firefighters safe during emergency operations.

Five other area fire departments each received donations to help support efforts to provide efficient and effective emergency response to local communities. The donations are part of the continued commitment of Flint Hills Resources Arthur, the local ethanol plant, to support firefighters and emergency responders.
