Odebolt teen involved in fatality
On Aug. 14, at 8:09 p. m., Harrison County communication center received a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision on Highway 30, east of Logan. Harrison County dispatched fire and rescue and law enforcement to the scene.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2007 Dodge Nitro was found in the west ditch, facing south. Jody Hustak, 45, was the driver of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 2003 Chevy Tahoe was in the middle of the highway, facing south. Connor Hemer, 19, of Odebolt was stuck in the vehicle. The jaws of life were used to remove him from the vehicle; he was taken to a field and life lighted to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

Preliminary investigation shows the Chevy was eastbound on Highway 30 and crossed the center and hit the westbound Dodge. The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Logan Police Department, Woodbine Police Department, Logan Fire and Rescue, Logan Ambulance and Harrison County Medical Examiner assisted at the scene.
