News from The Chronicle

Odebolt Businesses Donate to the City of Odebolt
The City of Odebolt has applied for discounted AED's (automatic external defibrillator) through a grant for both the swimming pool and the community center.  A letter was sent out to area businesses to assist with the amount above the discounted costs.  AED's help in case there is a need for CPR due to the diminishing EMT volunteer squad and the fifteen to twenty minutes or more it could take EMT's to arrive if they are not stationed in Odebolt.  The time using an AED could save a life.

The community business response was phenomenal.  The City has enough to purchase both AED's along with providing the pool with matching donations to apply for additional grants for other much needed improvements at the pool.  Some additional items needed are handicapped accessible stairs, recirculation pump, lounge chairs, new rules signs, etc.

The following businesses have participated:  Lundell Plastics, $1,364.75; First State Bank, $1,364.75; United Bank of Iowa, $500; Iowa State Bank, $500; Crop Production Services, $250; Farber & Otteman Funeral Homes, $250; Odebolt Lumber, $250; Mark Hansen Rex Chevrolet, $200; Farmers Cooperative, $200; The Electric Company,  $200; Snyder Farms, $100; and Swanson Insurance, $100.
