American Legion Girls State
Madison Hemer of Arthur and Jessica Gunderson of Kiron have been chosen as delegates by Odebolt Unit #313 to attend the Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State at Iowa State University June 15-20.

There are approximately 300 young women attending Iowa Girls State who have completed their junior year of high school and will study City, County and State government processes.

Iowa Girls State citizens set up their own City, County and State governments and administer them according to the laws of Iowa.

The girls also participate in legislative sessions, campaigning, party rallies, debating and voting along with acquiring deeper knowledge of parliamentary procedure.

In addition to their political activities, the girls hear several motivational speakers along with local and state government officials.

Rex Chevrolet Goes to Bat for OA PeeWees
Mark Hansen's Rex Chevrolet GMC is partnering with the OA PeeWees in Odebolt by joining forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide new equipment, a monetary contribution and an opportunity for community members to earn additional donations for their league via a Test Drive fundraiser.

2014 marks Chevrolet’s Youth Baseball program’s ninth year, and since its introduction has helped aid local teams, benefiting more than 3.5 million young people in communities where Chevrolet’s customers live, work and play.  In 2013, more than 1,600 Chevrolet dealers participated across the country.

Mark Hansen's Rex Chevrolet GMC will present OA PeeWees with an equipment kit that includes useful items, such as bags, batting tees, catcher’s gear, water bottles and Chevrolet Youth Baseball T-shirts.

In addition, Mark Hansen's Rex Chevrolet GMC will present a check representing a one-time monetary contribution to OA PeeWees.  Sponsored leagues across the country will have the chance to earn additional funds as community members take test drives at their partnering dealership to help support the league.
