O-A/BC-IG to present ‘The Brothers Grimm’

The Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School will present “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Don Zolidis, April 12, at 7 p. m., in the Bart Ogden Gymnasium in Odebolt.

The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories, ranging from classics like “Snow White,” “Cinderella” and “Hansel and Gretel” to more bizarre, obscure stories like “The Devil’s Grandmother” and “The Girl Without Hands.” This year’s play is a wild, free-form comedy, with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.

The cast list includes: narrator one-Angela Veit, narrator two-Garrett Rohlk, actor-Joey Elley, girl-Olivia Freese, dirt merchant-Seth Wheeler, Rumpelstiltskin-Blake Netherton, enchantress-Kaylea Killian, devil one-Stephen Stangl, prince one-Jake Matthies, Rapunzel-Grace Lozier, prince two-Jake Matthies, Hansel-Sunny Sangpanjun, Gretel-Mally Sangpanjun, witch one-Anne Hao, girl-Elyssa Freese, mother-Lauren Ketelsen and father-Connor Musel.

Also, ishergirl-Lyd Gustafson, talking ish-Gable Sohm, crab person one-Marzia Shivers, crab person two-Jacob Henderson, host-Darian Ernst, giant-Seth Wheeler frog prince-Jacob Olson, elf cobbler-Stephen Stangl plant-Nick Endrulat, princess-Elyssa Freese and king-Jacob Henderson.

Happiness Express supports O-A/BC-IG

The vocal music department of O-A/BC-IG Community High School is the recipient of a $300 check presented by the Happiness Express Chorus of Denison as part of their program of “Enriching Lives Through Singing.” (See photo in last week’s Courier.)

The gift represents a portion of $4,300 that is being distributed to vocal music departments of 12 area high schools and two vocal music workshop programs.

Iowa Tourism Office kicks off advertising campaign

The Iowa Tourism Office has kicked off its spring advertising campaign with television and digital ads designed to inspire travelers to visit Iowa.

Television ads are now airing in Chicago, Minneapolis/ St. Paul, Kansas City and Omaha. Digital ads are being served up on websites such as parents.com,TripAdvisor and Expedia, as well as Google search.

Iowa Tourism Office also recently completed a major overhaul of website, www.traveliowa.com, adding several news pages, meant to inspire potential travelers with a range of interests, from history and culture to hunting to outdoor recreation to wine and beer. The ad campaign is intended to drive traffic to traveliowa.com,where travelers can learn more about destinations in the state.

Tourism in Iowa generates more than $7.6 billion in expenditures, employs 64,400 people statewide and generates $345 million in state taxes.
