Miriam B. Mcfarland, 45, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA. Born January 7, 1968, Miriam was the daughter of Tillman and Henrietta (Nutzman) McFarland.
She graduated from Odebolt-Arthur Community School in 1986 and the New York Institute of Photography in 1988. She worked as a freelance photographer and alongside her companion and fiancé, Lyle E. Wiley (died in 2010) in their wood floor finishing business. Her photography won many awards and was the subject of several gallery exhibits in Iowa and Minnesota.
No memorial services were held. Miriam desired that her body be donated to the University of Iowa in the hope that studying her various cancers might help find a cure.
