Christmas news

CHRISTMAS NEWS FROM THE RURAL SCHOOLS MUSEUM

We had a wonderful group of visitors on December 7th after the Odebolt Christmas Party and Live Nativity Display. They were able to see our school house setting that now displays a red cedar Christmas tree, donated by Mary Louise Siebrecht. It is decorated with paper loop chains, snowflakes, icicles, and cranberry and popcorn strings. The children in the after-school program at the Library also made green hands that are now fashioned in a big, cheerful wreath greeting folks as they enter.

Remember that you may call for viewing times for you and your Christmas guests at 712-830-8328.

We also have some wonderful ideas for Christmas gifts with our Iowa Rural Schools Museum of Odebolt T-shirts, and two books: Iowa’s Rural Settlement – Shaped by Railroads and a System of Rural Schools, by Dorothy Kessler Engstrom, Ph.D.; and Iowa’s Rural School System – A Lost Treasure, by Sandra Kessler Host (Click for more information). Call the same phone number above should you wish to secure any of these items for your Christmas gifting.

The Rural Legacy Committee of Odebolt
wishes all of you a Merry Christmas!
