Two Peaz In A Pod opens in Odebolt

A love of fixing up old pieces of furniture has led Jody Harris of Odebolt to open Two Peaz In A Pod in downtown Odebolt.

Jody, her husband Chris Harris, and her parents, Verdene and Linda Kollbaum of Ida Grove, own the shop located in the alley behind Shear Magic/ Shear Magic Boutique on Main Street.

“I’ve considered antiquing and refinishing furniture fun since I was a filth grader. When I lived in Georgia, I worked for a company that sold multi-million dollar homes. I’d see furniture converted into a sink, etc., and think, I can do that. I had done some of my own projects, and some of my friends would ask what it would cost for me to do something similar for them.

“Shabby-chic  has grown over the past 15 years. I like to take something that’s old, that most people would throw away, and make it into something unique. I’m not into crazy schemes, like you see in big cities. The store has a variety of old items, some mine and other consignments,” said Harris.

The store features a wide variety of items, including glass bottles, dishes, collector items, furniture, pictures, knickknacks and seasonal items.

“We will be moving into the old grocery store in the near future. I have four vendors who have consigned at Brass Armadillo, going into the old grocery store. I offer variable percentages, percentage/rent rates or rent booth space. We definitely don’t have the same prices as big cities do, so people shouldn’t be afraid to come in and shop,” Harris said.

This coming week, Two Peaz In A Pod is donating 10 percent of their sales to the Chad and Wendy Larson family of Odebolt. The Larsons’ four-month-old daughter, Katelyn, recently had a heart transplant in Omaha and hopes to return home this week.

Harris said, “Frozen dinners, desserts, fruits, etc., can be dropped off at the shop to be given to the family, as no one outside the immediate family can visit for the first four months Katelyn is home.”

Current store hours are Wednesdays—10 a. m. to 3 p. m., Fridays—11 a. m. to 6 p. m., and Saturdays—10 a. m. to 2 p. m., or by appointment (call 712-797-0222).
