O-A/BC-IG new staff
     Several new staff members will greet O-A/BC-IG, O-A or BC-IG students when classes start Wednesday, August 15.  O-A/BC-IG paraeducators
Six women have completed 90-hours of paraeducator training and will serve in either the O-A or BC-IG School Districts this school year. Kiron Heritage Days Aug. 18-19
The Kiron community and surrounding area have been making plans for the second annual Kiron Heritage Days, Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., and Sunday, Aug. 19, from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m., at the Kiron Living Memory Park on Eureka Street and Highway 39. Thanks to sponsor support, there are no admission charges to the celebration.

The celebration will include corn shelling and threshing demonstrations.

Other activities include car, tractor, machinery and pedal pull shows; professional performers; a talent show, featuring local talent; a bouncy house; children’s games; Job Corps clowns; face painting; and balloons.

Vendors include Joe Keane with his educational exhibit on bees and honey for sale; local children’s author, Mary Morgan, who will display and autograph her books; and Louise Galbraith, with the veterans’ administration informational booth.

Activities not sponsored by the Kiron Heritage Association are city-wide garage sales; a poker run and street dance, sponsored by the Silv Dollar Saloon; the opening of Lundell’s new IHCase Museum (located in the old Kollbaum building on Main Street); and an ecumenical church service held at Bethel Lutheran Church Sunday, Aug. 19, at
9 a. m., with Dakota Road performing.

100th birthday
Harold Wunschel of Odebolt, celebrated his 100th birthday on July 10 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab assisted living. About 60 relatives and friends from several states attended. He is the last family member of 12 of Nicholas and O’Tillie (Rohde) Wunschel and lived most of his life in the Arthur area.


O-A/BC-IG volleyball, football scrimmages
O-A/BC-IG volleyball and football teams will have either a special practice or scrimmages that will be open to the public this Friday, Aug. 17.

The volleyball team will host a V. I. P. practice from 5 to 6:15 p. m. at the high school gym in Ida Grove.

The football parents will be grilling burgers at the stadium.

The football team’s scrimmage is set for 6:30 to 8 p. m. Admission will be a free will donation.

The volleyball team opens the regular season against Alta-Aurelia in Alta Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p. m.

The football team plays I-KM-Manning in Manning to open the regular season Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p. m.


Odebolt store broken into

Jim’s TV and Appliance store on Second Street in Odebolt was broken into sometime between 5 p. m., Aug. 8, and 8 a. m., Aug. 9, according to Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure. McClure reports no damage was done, and only a small amount of cash was taken from the register.
