Oklahoma City, OK (June 28, 2012) ―The National Association of Health Care Assistants, (NAHCA) held its 18th
Annual “Key To Quality” Awards banquet, Thursday, June 28, 2012 in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This annual celebration was held to recognize
the accomplishments and exemplary contributions of caregivers and
organizations across the nation. The association presented awards in 22
categories selected from over 36,000 members. These awards are given
to recipients that exemplify the best qualities in the continuum of
care.
Perfect Attendance Award
recipients were Flora Hamric and Pam Porter. This award is given to a
CNA or direct caregiver who has completed a minimum of one year of
direct care service with perfect attendance. This caregiver sets the
standard for other professionals to follow.
Perfect
Attendance Award recipient Pam Porter is from Odebolt Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center in Odebolt, Iowa. Pam was introduced at the
ceremony with the following description: “ Pam has an exceptional
attendance track record. In November she will celebrate her 27th year
at Odebolt and during that time she has accumulated only 9 sick days and
has been tardy only twice (which most likely occurred during Iowa’s
famed snow storms). She is so adamant about being at work and getting
there on time, that she watches the weather and has been known to come
in early and camp out in an empty room to ensure her residents will be
well cared for. Thank you for your dedication Pam!”
NAHCA
has worked closely with care facilities across the country to recognize
the valuable humanitarian service of CNAs and to improve the quality of
health care in long-term care facilities. Lisa Cantrell and Lori
Porter, NAHCA co-founders, have bridged the gap between caregivers and
facilities promoting recognition, education and motivation with its
staff.
