RAGBRAI® comes to Lake View, Monday, July 23rd
Lake View is getting ready to host RAGBRAI 2012 riders on Monday, July 23. The community is bringing music and more into town to make “Summer Brake 2012” memorable for riders. More info at
 
2012 Sac County Fair 
The 2012 Sac County Fair begins on Thursday, July 26th and runs through Sunday, July 29th at the Sac County Fair Grounds in Sac City, IA.
Open Class Entries -Entries can be taken at the fair office Monday, July 16 to Saturday, July 21 or mail your entry to Sac County Fair, PO Box 423, Sac City, IA 50583  (Deadline is July 21 at noon.)

Kathy Wilke elected to state P.E.O. office
Kathy Wilke of Chapter DS (Odebolt) was recently elected Treasurer of Iowa State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood during the organization's annual state convention held in Des Moin Jun 1-3.  Approximately 700 delegates and visitors from 395 chapters from across the state participated in this year's event. 
Wilke has been a member of the local chapter for 32 years and has served in several chapter offices.  Deb Bettin of Odebolt served as a delegate from Chapter DS at this year's convention and her daughter, Tara Reaman, attended as a visitor. 

P.E.O. is one of the pioneer societies for women and was founded in 1869 by seven young women at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.  The organization now has approximately 6,000 chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly 250,000 members.  Iowa is P.E.O's second largest state chapter with over 18,000 members.  P.E.O. promotes educational opportunities for women through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans.  http://www.peoiowa.org
 
 
O-A Class of 1992 Reunion

HAROLD JOSEPH "ANDY" ANDERSON
Harold Joseph “Andy” Anderson, 81, of Springdale, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home.  He was born August 30, 1930 in Odebolt, Iowa to Joseph Anderson and Elenora Johnson Anderson

Mr. Anderson retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He and his family then operated the Bonaparte Lake Resort for hunting and fishing in Tonasket, Washington.  He also pastored a church near Seattle for several years, and then with his wife established the Budapest Christian Library in Budapest, Hungary when they were both in their 70's.  In 2009 they opened a warehouse and distribution office to provide Christian material to reading centers in Hungary and the Balkan countries.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Graham Anderson, on September 6, 2010.  He is survived by three sons, Marc Anderson and wife Bobbi of Spokane, Washington, Kurt Anderson and wife Penny of Springdale,
Arkansas, Eric Anderson and wife Joanne of Carlsbad, California; six grandchildren, Jason, Scott, Chad, Emily, Erika and Jenna; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Matthew.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Fellowship Bible Church in Springdale.  Interment with
military honors was at Fayetteville National Cemetery.  Online guest book at Heritage Funeral Home, www.heritageofnwa.com

WVC to be phased out
The 5-year run of the Western Valley Conference (WVC) will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2013 spring sports season.  OA-BCIG athletic director Larry Allen has confirmed that the WVC will be disolved and the former Maple Vally Conference (MVC) will be reinstated with the start of the 2013 school year.  The WVC is a combination of the MVC and the Boyer Valley Conference. 

The resurrected Maple Valley Conference will be composed of OA-BCIG, Ridge View, River Valley, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto, Whiting, West Monona, Westwood, Kingsley-Pierson, Woodbury Central, Lawton-Bronson and Siouxland Community Christian, based in Sioux City.
