Sac County Health Services will offer flu shots to the public at a clinic on Wednesday, October 5 at Odebolt Trinity Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Those persons with Medicare Part B should bring their card to the clinic. If you do not have Medicare coverage, cost for the flu vaccination is $25.00.

SAC COUNTY ENDOWMENT FOUNDATION GRANTS
The Sac County Endowment Foundation is announcing that grant applications will soon be available for the next round of grants. Only 501(c)(3) organizations or units of governments in Sac County are eligible applicants and the projects must be vertical infrastructure.
Workshops for the next round of grants will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and Wed., Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. All applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the workshops before attempting to fill out the applications. They have been changed to reflect our parent foundation's guidelines.

CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES
Three incumbents, Todd Bengford, Robert G. (Butch) Hemphill and James A. Scott, filed nomination papers and are seeking re-election to the Odebolt City Council. There are three seats on the ballot.
The voter pre-registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 26.
The election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
GRANT FOR HOUSING REHABILITATION
The City of Odebolt has just received word on the successful application for additional funds from the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED). The grant awarded to the City will be used to rehabilitate the homes of low to moderate income families. The $274,862 grant is the result of an application submitted by Region XII Council of Governments for the City. The funds will enable the rehabilitation of a minimum of eight owner-occupied homes.

ODEBOLT CONTRIBUTORS TO POETRY CONTEST
Lyrical Iowa 2011, scheduled for distribution in late October, will showcase the work of more than 400 poets, as compiled by editor Lucille Morgan Wilson. Selected from nearly 2,800 entries in the Iowa Poetry Association's annual contest, choices were made by qualified judges.
Odebolt contributors are: Roger Kies (deceased) and Amy Stangl, 10th grade student.
