ABLE awards
The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) recently honored Odebolt- Arthur board president Paul Neumann and Galva-Holstein board president Don Friedrichsen for completing IASB’s Academy of Board Learning Experiences (ABLE II); the level two training program for school board members. The award was presented at a district meeting of school board members in Carroll on June 22. The program is designed to give school board members the skills they need to effectively govern public schools.

School board filing underway
Persons interested in running for open seats on area school boards could begin filing nomination papers July 11.

Odebolt-Arthur has three members with expiring terms. They are Paul Neumann of Odebolt, Deb Bengford of Arthur and Traci Bengford of Odebolt. Scott Cranston of Odebolt has recently moved and is no longer eligible to serve on the O-A board. The current board has the option of appointing a new board member to fill the position until the next school board election, which is Sept. 13. The board will discuss this option during a special meeting July 28.

O-A nomination papers are available from board secretary Jann Murphy and 16 signatures are required on the completed forms. Neumann, Brad Lundell of Kiron and Pat Hoefling of Odebolt have filed papers. Deb Bengford and Traci Bengford have taken out papers.
