Friday, June 17th
Catered dinner: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Program: 7:30 p.m.
(There will not be an Alumni Band this year.)
PROGRAM
Sandra (Kessler) Host will be speaking about the restoration of the old Richland #1 Country School House and plans to have it moved to downtown Odebolt. Host’s book, “Rural School System—A Lost Treasure,” will be available at the all school banquet and during the pancake breakfast on Saturday.The program will feature a band comprised primarily of former members of
The Fifth Generation, from Carroll, IA, which was inducted into the Iowa Rock’n Roll Association Hall of Fame in 2007. Two graduates from Odebolt-Arthur high school, Mike Peterson and Charlie Ferguson will be performing. Another member playing on the 17th is John Logan, from Clear Lake, an IRRMA Hall of Fame inductee for his work in ‘The Soulution.’
BAND MEMBERS
Bernie Gronstal, vocals, percussion. originally from Carroll and a founding member of the Carroll band: Former President & CEO, Carroll County State Bank, currently retired and living in ArizonaMark Brenny, bass guitar, also an original member of the Carroll band, Mr Brenny is the owner of Brenny’s Motorcyle Clinic, Bettendorf, IA
Tim Chipman, guitar, vocals from Glidden, played with Brenny and Gronstal, later with Charlie Ferguson in Iowa City, and also the Fabulous Flippers, and The Blue Things, Lawrence, Kansas, inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Mr. Chipman is now a business owner, writer and singer living in Clarion, IA
Mike Peterson, keyboards, from Odebolt, played in the Fifth Generation and was inducted with the band to the IRRMA Hall of Fame Mike, the son of Dennis and Eleanor Peterson, is an airline pilot residing in California.
John Logan, drums, vocals from Clear Lake, played in The Soulution’, inducted into the IRRMA Hall of Fame in 2005, played with C. Ferguson in that band, and also Fanfare, from Iowa City.
Charlie Ferguson, keyboards, vocals, from Odebolt, son of Charles and Olive Ferguson, played with the Fifth Generation, inducted in 2007 Iowa Rock’n Roll Association Hall of Fame, was bandleader and keyboard player for several bands in the Iowa City Area, most notably Fanfare. Also played in Spider and the Crabs, Lawrence Ks, inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
Mr. Ferguson lives in Dallas, Tx where he has been a studio owner, sound engineer and performer since 1979. His career in the sound field included work for the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network, and most notably, LeAnn Rimes Blue Tour, and ‘the Johnnie High Country Music Revue,’ televised on the RFD cable network, and presently in its 37th consecutive year. Mr. Ferguson currently works for Alford Media, a Dallas based rental staging company that provides sound, lights and video for corporations and organizations worldwide. His company will be contributing to the Odebolt performance.
