Music Boosters seek funding for new robes
Each year, our music boosters continue to advance our mission of supporting music in our schools. Through music education, we have seen many lives changed for the better.
The goal of music boosters is to continue to make a difference in the lives of our students. With the help of donations from supporters like you, we will continue to see this come to fruition.
The final push is on toward our goal of raising the funds for new choir robes for the high school students at O-A/BC-IG. Our current, well-worn robes are 20-40 years old. The plan is to debut the new robes/ stoles this winter.
If you or your business would be interested in being a choir robe sponsor, contact either Linda Johnson at the high school or Stephanie Konradi in Ida Grove. (O-A/BC-IG Community Schools | 712-364-3687 | 900 John Montgomery Dr. Ida Grove, IA 51445)
Suggested sponsorships are $25, $50, $100 and $125 (one robe) and can be sent to the O-A/BC-IG Music Department choir robes’ fund-raiser at the high school.
Sponsors will be acknowledged during the 2013-14 school year in concert programs and other locations.
We truly appreciate your support of the arts.

Sac to celebrate quilts, tractors, classic cars
Sac County’s celebration of barns, quilts and our rural heritage is almost here. The Sac County Quilt-A-Fair will be Sept. 21-22 at the Sac County fairgrounds.
In addition to two buildings full of quilts, quilt-related vendors and continuous stage presentations, the celebration also features a tractor ride around part of Sac County’s barn quilt trail, a classic car show and several opportunities to enjoy Iowa food.
The planning group for the tractor ride has firmed up both the route and details about the ride. Jerry and Cathy Staton of Sac City and Neil and Anita Mason and Gene and Sandy Weitzel, all of Early, have been busy securing sponsors for the ride. Anyone with a tractor who wants to participate is encouraged to meet at the Sac County fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Tractor drivers should enter the east gate of the grounds. Registration will begin at 7:30 a. m., with coffee and donuts. The parade of tractors will begin promptly at 9 a. m.
The tractor ride will turn east out of the fairgrounds onto Park Avenue, then proceed east on D36, the former Highway 20. At Lytton, the parade will detour along Main Street before heading south on N28. The route will head west on D46 and then north on Highway 196 before turning back to the west on airport road, D42.
The ride participants will stop at Sac County’s Hagge Park for a short break, sponsored by the Jacksons 4-H Club, and for an opportunity to see the new county conservation building. Following the break, the ride will continue west, turning to the south on M54.
The riders will continue north on M50 until they reach D36 (former Highway 20), at which point they will turn back toward Sac City. The parade of tractors through Sac City should occur around noon, as the tractors will be heading toward a lunch at the Chautauqua Building, hosted by the Sac County Pork Producers. Jerry Staton said, “We are planning for about 75-80 tractors.
On Sunday, the classic cars will take over the fairgrounds. There are no fees to participate in the car show; all makes and models are welcome. Registration is from 9 a. m. to noon, with judging in the afternoon. Car owners will receive a welcome bag, filled with small gifts from Sac County businesses. Ten trophies, as well as a few door prizes, will be awarded at the conclusion of the show, around 3 p. m. There is no admission fee to enter the fairgrounds and enjoy the tractors, cars and food.
