Odebolt Historical Museum Meeting
July 24, 2013

Call to order
President Kathy Larson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm

Roll call   
The following persons were present: Thelma Schroeder, Steph Fleenor, Rebecca Ullrich, Marilyn King and Kathy Larson

Approval of minutes from last meeting
The minutes of the previous meeting were unavailable.

Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

Old business     
Kathy said that she has found the Adams ranch tapes and Kyle Hustedt is in possession of them.  He will use them in updating and printing the new Adams Ranch Book.
   
There was discussion about being open on Sunday afternoons during the summer.  There does not seem to be enough interest from members who would be willing to spend Sunday afternoons at the Museum.  It was decided that we will continue to be open by appointment.  Mary Schroder will have her name listed as a member to call if someone wants to visit the museum.

New Business
Mary Schroeder will send thank you notes to Dixie Brueck for the wonderful pictures she donated to the Museum and to John Noyd for his continued support of the Museum and his generous donation of the security system. 

We received a lot of great items from the P. Dale Gronemeyer estate.  Mary will send a thank you to his family. 

Kathy found some old cabinets at an antique shop that are like the cabinets that were in the store at one time.  It was decided to purchase the cabinets and use them when we remodel the building. 

The Museum board voted to begin the remodel of the building.  We need to tear up the old carpet as it is buckled in many places and we fear that someone will trip on the carpet.  We plan to leave the boards without carpet as that was how the building originally looked.  

We also will refinish the old original tin ceiling on the main floor of the building and put in new period lighting.  Kathy asked if anyone knew of someone who could refinish the ceiling, repairs the walls, and reinstall the open staircase.  We will try to locate a carpenter who would be interested in this restoration project. 

Steph Fleenor volunteered to be in charge of labeling new items that the Museum receives.  Marilyn and Rebecca said that they would work on organizing the books in the back room.  

Next meeting will be on October 23, 2013 at 7:00 pm.
