I am writing to inform you of an exciting adventure run, Relay Iowa - The Longest Relay Run in the United States, which will be passing through Sac County on Friday, June 7 from approximately 4 pm-10 pm. 2013 marks the 4th annual relay run across Iowa where teams of up to 12 people run continuously for 3 days and 2 nights, from Sioux City to Dubuque, for a total of 336 miles.
This year the run will take place from June 7-9, 2013. We kick off the run at Sgt. Floyd Monument in Sioux City, on the morning of Friday June 7th. The run ends in Dubuque on Sunday, June 9th around 3pm.
Here are some fun facts about Relay Iowa:
• 336 miles
• Longest Relay Run in the U.S., and the only 2-overnight running relay in the U.S.
• This year we will have about 250 runners
• Running through 35 Iowa towns. See the website for all check points and towns passing through.
• We are a 501c3, raising money for an Iowa couple who run an orphanage for South African children affected by AIDS
• Partnered with Restoring Hope Int’l, based in Ankeny, Iowa

Each year more and more local citizens come out as awareness of our event grows, with some volunteering and some doing fund-raisers for their community, so we want to continue to spread the word across the state. If you would like more information, please check out our website at www.relayia.org.
