Community Basket Mobile Food Pantry is April 18 in Arthur
(from Faith Lutheran Church newsletter)
The Community Basket ministry is done in partnership with the following communities, Battle Creek, Holstein, Galva, Ida Grove, Arthur, Kiron and Odebolt. Community Basket grew out of the Odebolt, Arthur, Kiron Ministerial and the Ida Ministerial Associations to provide supplemental food to those family in need, working in conjunction with the Food Bank of Siouxland.
Community Basket has a two prong mission:
1) The Mobile Food Pantry is held on the third Thursday of each month and moves from community to community. We have now finished our first full rotation. In Ida Grove we served 93 families with 91 families below the income guidelines. The next distribution will be on April 18th at the Arthur Community Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
2) A Site Pantry located in the basement of the Medical Arts Building in Ida Grove is opened every Thursday from 1-4. A household is able to use the site pantry once a month.
The communities of the Community Basket have received donations to provide for the food that we receive each month at the mobile site and what is left is counted up and then taken to the site pantry. The site pantry exists on donations of food items and non-perishable items (personal care, toilet paper, Kleenex, diapers, etc). Each month congregations are invited to collect various items for the Site Pantry.
This month they are asking area churches to gather paper products, such as paper towels, Kleenex, toilet paper, napkins, jelly/jam, rice or any item will be appreciated.
