O-A voters pass PPEL renewal

An Odebolt-Arthur special school election to renew the district Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) passed Dec. 4 with 156 yes and 20 no votes, according to unofficial results.

The breakdown of votes is as follows: Odebolt precinct—128 yes, 15 no; Arthur precinct—24 yes, four no; and absentee—four yes, one no.

The current levy expires June 30, 2013. The district voter-approved PPEL program will provide approximately $175,000 a year for 10 years.

In the past, O-A PPEL funds have been used for boiler repairs, carpet replacement, outdoor maintenance, electrical upgrades, concrete replacement, school buses and support vehicles, musical instruments, classroom technology, teacher and student computers and upkeep of the elementary playground.


O-A/BC-IG after prom plans soup supper


The O-A/BC-IG after-prom committee will be hosting a soup supper on Friday, Dec. 21, 4:30 to 7 p. m., in the high school cafetorium before the basketball game.

The menu includes chicken noodle, chili and cheesy potato soups and cinnamon rolls. The committee will collect free-will donations for the meal, with all proceeds supporting the 2013 after-prom activities on April 20.
