O-A/BC-IG Lady Falcons State Qualifiers


The O-A/BC-IG girls qualified for the state basketball tournament for the third consecutive year and the sixth time in the last nine years with a 59-51 win over Lawton-Bronson in the class 2A regional tournament final Monday in Mapleton.

The Falcons (25-0) will enter the 2012 state tournament as the defending class 2A champions. O-A/BC-IG will open defense of its title next Monday, Feb. 27 at 8:30 p. m. against West Marshall (20-5) at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The winner will play in the class 2A semi final Thursday, March 1 at noon. The class 2A championship game is set for Friday, March 2 at 8 p. m.

Body identified as missing Odebolt man

On Feb. 15, the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny positively identified the body located in rural Arthur on Feb. 9 as Charles Lee Bird, 44 of Odebolt.

At this time, law enforcement does not suspect foul play in Bird’s death. However, the investigation is continuing and is being conducted jointly by the Ida County Sheriff’s Office, Sac County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Additional information will be released when the investigation is complete.
