BC-IG, O-A School Boards to meet Jan. 9
The Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Odebolt-Arthur School Boards will meet in a joint session on Monday, Jan. 9, 6:30 p. m., at the central office in Ida Grove.
Dialogue/action items include a second reading on the board policy series 100 revisions, revisions to Citizen’s Advisory Committee membership, auditing services (BC-IG), purchase agreement for early childhood center (BCIG), and superintendent evaluation process closed session.
Youth invited to Crevier’s ‘Spin-Tacular’
An area-wide youth outreach event, “Spin-Tacular,” featuring Bruce Crevier and his family of South Dakota, will make four local appearances Jan. 12 and 13.
The events will be:
-Thursday, Jan. 12, 2:30 p. m., at the O-A/BC-IG High School with the public invited
-Thursday, Jan. 12, 7 p. m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove
-Friday, Jan. 13, 2 p. m., at the Ridge View High School in Holstein with the public invited
-Friday, Jan. 13, 6 p. m., at the O-A/BC-IG vs K-P basketball game
The event is jointly sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, O-A/BC-IG, Ridge View, River Valley and MV-A-O Schools.
Bruce Crevier will demonstrate his spinning and ball handling skills and will challenge youth to appreciate and benefit from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His motivational words, built around the theme, “Being a Champion In Life,” will inspire and motivate youth to commit their lives and respond to Jesus’ call to follow Him. He also focuses on GAME (Goals, Attitude, Morals and Excellence). He is a four-time Guinness world record holder for spinning basketballs and has spun as many as 21 basketballs at once. He also holds the world record endurance spin where he spun one basketball for 22 hours and 12 minutes without a break.
Crevier has traveled all over the world, including 35 countries, sharing his message. He has appeared on several TV shows, including Live With Regis and Kathy, Today Show, CNN, ESPN, as well as in Sports Illustrated magazine. He and his wife, Diane, have 12 children. When his family is with him, they are a part of the program.
All area churches, their pastors and youth leaders are invited to attend. The youth will have opportunity to meet Crevier during the program.
O-A/BC-IG FFA fruit sales hit $18,500
The O-A/BC-IG FFA had its annual fruit sales fund-raiser in late October through early November. This year, FFA members sold $18,500 worth of fruit, meat and cheese, popcorn and pickled herring.
The fruit was delivered on Dec. 13. FFA members spent the day sorting out the best fruit and preparing to deliver the product. Each member sold an average of $205, making this fruit sales successful. The money helps fund the activities that the FFA participates in throughout the year.
The top fruit salesmen were Michael Grote, FFA president; Tanner Hemer, second; Jeremia Marron, third; Trevor Schnuckel, fourth; and Tanner Gross, fifth.
