O’Tool completes basic training
     Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Shawn O’Tool has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
     The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare skills.  Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
     He is the son of Peggy Christie of Ida Grove and Mark O’Tool of Odebolt. He is a 2011 graduate of Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School.

Burn bans in Ida and Sac Counties were lifted Nov. 22.


Christmas Concerts & Events

Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p. m.
, Odebolt-Arthur Elementary holiday concert in Bart Ogden Gymnasium.
     The third through fifth graders will be presenting “A Hawaiian Christmas,” which reminds us that the holidays are about celebrating with the people you love instead of worrying about getting the best presents.
     The fourth and fifth grade choir will also sing three songs: “Warmth and Light,” “Whole New World of Winter” and “It’s Christmas Everywhere.”

Monday, Dec. 19, the OA-BCIG High School winter concert begins at 7 p. m. in the high school gym. The band will perform many seasonal mainstays.  The choir is singing a variety of traditional and nontraditional holiday songs.

Arthur
Santa Claus will visit with children Saturday, Dec. 10
, from 10 to 10:30 a. m., at the Arthur community building. The usual community Christmas celebration will not be held this year.
